Guardianships
If you have a person in your family who cannot or should not make their own decisions regarding financial matters, medical issues, or personal arrangements because that person is incapacitated or under the age of eighteen, guardianships may be the only method available to insure that you have the power to handle these things. A guardianship gives the client the legal authority to work with the bank, hospital, nursing home, or school on behalf of that individual.
When a loved one is no longer able to care for themselves, it falls to others to ensure they are cared for and protected. The creation of a guardianship empowers a guardian to make decisions regarding everyday living arrangements, health care and legal matters on behalf of another person or “ward”.
